You may remember the Steagall family from our session last Fall.  It was so wonderful to see them again and see how much Nathanael and Jessie Mae have grown!  The weather was perfect and it was great to let the kids run around and play without shivering like our last session in November!  They are so sweet and we loved capturing their cute little personalities!

As a photographer, I adore all the weddings I photograph and become friends with many of my brides.  But it’s something truly special to photograph a bride who is already a close friend.  May 22 was one of those days.  My dear friend and former roommie, Jessica, married the love of her life.   After so many late night talks and prayers when we lived together, it was such an awesome blessing and honor to be there for her and capture her day.  The day she had been waiting for and the man she had been praying so long for God to bring into her life.  God is so faithful, and John came into her life in December 2009.  Perfect for her in so many ways and committed to lead their marriage and serve in ministry together.

Thank you for allowing us to share in your day!  We can’t wait to see all that the Lord is going to do through blessing your marriage together!

2010 was a very busy year…. engaged in February and married in July to the most amazing man.  I relocated to Gainesville, VA, moved my business and continued with weddings and sessions.  Life was good!

As John and I began to talk about when we would like to start our family, we knew from the beginning that there could be some difficulties.  I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2008 and had already been told by a few doctors that I could have problems trying to get pregnant.  So, in between my many prayers, I was also thinking about and talking to others about IVF and other treatments… just in case.

We serve an amazing God, who is so much bigger than any doctor or diagnosis!  On April 2nd, I found out (slightly unexpectedly) that we were pregnant and going to become parents!  We could not be more overjoyed!  We are currently 10 weeks along and due December 11.   So 2011 will be even more eventful than 2010!   Other changes are also taking place…  John is changing jobs so we’re moving to the Sterling, VA area this weekend.  New job, new home and starting a family!

“I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him,”  1 Samuel 1:27

Label is wrong, this is the first sonogram at 6 weeks…

This is on the day we first found out…  I was at a brunch for a great friend, celebrating her own pregnancy and surrounded by other mommies.  I was totally bursting with excitement and trying to keep it a secret since I hadn’t told John yet!  On the way home I stopped by Cupcake Heaven in Haymarket.  They were so sweet and created a little custom cupcake for me to give to John as a way of telling him.  It was kinda funny cause at first he thought it was a leftover cupcake from my friend’s brunch, so it took a moment to sink in that it was made for him.  🙂

Sarah and Jean Paul are expecting their first baby towards the end of May, a little boy!  And as we discussed our schedules for when to photograph their maternity session, Sarah’s first Mother’s Day seemed to be the perfect choice.  It was supposed to rain that evening but we said a few prayers and took a chance.  We ended up having a gorgeous day with a beautiful sunset!  Couldn’t ask for anything better out of a session, a stunning couple on a fabulous day…

We are so excited for you both and can’t wait to meet your precious baby boy!

December 6th, 2008, Dia married her sweetheart, Cameron.  They stood in the church that was the site and means of their initial meeting, saying their vows and devoting their love and lives to each other.  Everyone in attendance knew they were made for each other.  Dia was absolutely radiant around her sweet Cam, and he was always so loving and kind to his precious bride.  I had the honor to photograph their wedding that day, and remember it like it was yesterday.  Delicate flakes of snow fell from the sky and nothing could have made the day more memorable and perfect for them.

After two years of marriage, Dia and Cameron learned they were expecting a baby!  Cameron was so excited to be a Daddy and was thrilled to keep the news as their own little secret for several weeks.  They wanted to wait until the baby’s birth to find out whether they were having a son or a daughter, so they planned and prepared with names for each gender and dreamed with such excitement about their future.

In January, Cameron suddenly passed away and went to be with our Lord.   In the midst of this complete tragedy, among all the sadness and questions of why, Dia clings to her faith that our God is good.  He is slowly bringing her through this time – along with the help of so many of the same family and friends who were part of that perfect day in December more than two years ago, and with the happiness and anticipation of meeting their beloved baby in a matter of days.  A baby who will continue the legacy of Dia and Cameron’s love for each other.
