After 6 long days in the NICU, Miss Adelaide is finally home!!! I was so excited to be able to take newborn photos of this sweet 9 lb bundle! She’s doing so well, and I was amazed that she was able to sleep while Audrey and Finley ran around and played right beside her. Audrey is absolutely in love with her baby sister! As soon as I came through the door, she led me over to Adelaide saying, “I just love her so much and I kiss her all the time!” And when Adelaide would cry a particular way, Audrey would say, “that’s her hungry cry.” It was just so precious… Makes me so anxious to meet my little Aleksa in about a month and a half! Adelaide will have a new little friend very soon!
We love this family so much! Sandie has been a dear friend for over seven years…. We traveled together for overseas missions, she was one of my bridesmaids, I was there for the birth of little Taylor, and they also opened up their home to me and John during our whirlwind Summer of waiting to purchase our own home.
For their family session, we specifically wanted to wait until the Fall, when Taylor would be 6 months old and able to sit up and interact more with big brother Payton. Not only is Taylor sitting, but also starting to crawl, and able to stand while holding onto things! They’re both growing so fast! And Payton is just cute as can be and now calls me “Auntie Christmas.” True, I can see where Christmas and Kristen can sound similar, but that’s definitely a new nickname for me! I was thrilled with how their photos turned out and I can’t wait to show off their wall displays and Christmas cards that just arrived!
This past summer, John and I had the pleasure of living with the Hines family when we were in between homes. We are so thankful for them as they opened up their home to us and were so generous! When we were living with them, the boys quickly learned that I did not share the same expertise of geography that they did, so they would wait until John got home from work to quiz him about his knowledge. These boys are seriously some of the smartest kids I know! So during their family session at Willowcroft Farm Vineyards it was only fitting to use geography questions as the way to make them smile. I’m sure the workers at Willowcroft were a little confused as to why these little boys were shouting, “Turkey!” and “Kosovo!” 🙂 We had a wonderful time!
Meet the Clarke family.
In 2008, Megan and Mike felt the urge to use adoption as the means for building their family. After many prayers, they felt confident that their children were in Africa! After mountains of paperwork and months of waiting, God blessed them with two precious little boys! Joshua and Isaac came home from Jinja, Uganda in November 2010. The family is having a great time learning how to be a family of four and they spend most of their time playing with sticks!
This session was so special to me. I’ve known Megan and Mike for awhile and have been praying these little boys home! It’s just so amazing to see the process of adoption come to completion when children get to come home into their forever families! I absolutely adored watching the boys play and call out to “Mama” and “Papa.” Just beyond precious! And for the boys to run over towards the woods to go pick flowers for their Mama… our hearts just melted!

[…] The last session with the Clarke family was about a year after their sweet boys came home from Uganda. We had so much fun being silly, chasing bubbles and watching them pick flowers for Mama. Little did we know that there was a little stowaway at that session! Megan was pregnant didn’t even know it! So a few months later, a third little dude joined their clan. So I was absolutely thrilled when they wanted some new family photos! […]
Annie and Matt’s day had finally arrived… 9.10.11! It was calling for rain and thunderstorms, but instead, they had gorgeous sunny skies all day. Their amazing ceremony and reception was held at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal, VA. Annie was absolutely stunning in her gown, and I loved all the beautiful details and Chinese elements she incorporated into the day! Their sweetheart table was adorned with delicate red and white teacups and saucers, and each guest went home with a little Chinese porcelain soup spoon! Their day couldn’t have been more perfect!
